2009 CHERRY FESTIVAL ACTIVITIES AND SPECIAL CHERRY CITY FAIRE |

San Leandro's 2009 Cherry Festival takes place in downtown San Leandro along West Estudillo Avenue on Saturday, June 6, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The festival includes live music and entertainment, arts & crafts, specialty foods, games & rides and a Cherry Pie Bake-Off. A variety of events took place this spring to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the festival, including a juried art exhibition at the San Leandro History Museum and Art Gallery and a High Tea and Fashion Show. More special activities are in store for the festival itself, including a living history re-enactment of part of the 1909 festival, a special history display at the City's History Museum and a new Cherry City Faire. The Cherry City Faire includes contests in a number of areas, including fine arts, arts & crafts, woodworking and home-baked goods. The contests will be similar to those held at traditional county fairs and entries will be on display on the day of the Cherry Festival in the Cherry City Faire tent. |
