|The City of San Leandro and the San Leandro Chamber of Commerce invite residents and business owners to a special City Council workshop Monday, October 22, at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at 835 East 14th Street.
Chamber and City staff will highlight programs aimed at retaining local businesses and supporting their growth. Partnerships, City investment, incentive programs and tools that strengthen small business will also be discussed. The workshop will also provide information on businesses and business sectors that are expanding in San Leandro.
Mayor Stephen Cassidy stated that, "Companies such as OSIsoft, which have grown locally and continue to grow, are benefitting from partnerships with the City of San Leandro. This investment provides many quality short-term and long-term jobs for the entire East Bay. With the loss of Redevelopment Funds, it is critical that we be resourceful in identifying new approaches for supporting local businesses."
The workshop will also include a presentation by the San Leandro Chamber of Commerce to highlight their business support programs and several of the ongoing business development partnerships between the City and the Chamber. “Particularly in these challenging economic times, it is critical for the City and Chamber to work together to support the business community,” stated Chamber CEO David Johnson. “By pooling resources and expertise, we are ensuring that a strong business ecosystem remains in place in San Leandro.”
“San Leandro is the world headquarters for companies such as Ghirardelli, Energy Recovery Incorporated, and TriNet, and we are seeing global brands such as Macy's continue to invest in our community,” stated San Leandro Business Development Manager Cynthia Battenberg. “The goal of our business assistance programs is to ensure that San Leandro continues to be a great place to do business.”
