Draft Bicycle & Pedestrian Master Plan Now Available

The draft Bicycle & Pedestrian Master Plan is now available. This document is designed to guide the development of facilities to enhance bicycling and walking as safe, enjoyable, and practical transportation choices for the San Leandro community. 2:00 PMFREE - Iwo Jima and the Photo that Changed America

This Memorial Day weekend, the Veterans Resource Center (VRC) of the San Leandro Public Library, will present a program on the WWII Battle of Iwo Jima, and the ongoing impact of the battle’s iconic photograph, Flag Raising On Iwo Jima, taken by Joe Rosenthal. The program will take place in the Main Library’s Andrew Carnegie Lecture Hall, 300 Estudillo Avenue, on Saturday, May 26, from 2:00 to 4:30pm.

Suitable for all ages, the two-hour program will begin with a short film on the battle and the flag raising, followed by a panel discussion which will include veterans of the battle. The panel will be moderated by Tom Graves, author and Chapter Historian of the Joe Rosenthal Chapter, USMC Combat Correspondents Association. A Q&A session will follow the panel and everyone is invited for an ice cream social after the program to honor our veterans.

Baby Time: Rhymes, songs and books for pre-walkers ages 0 to 12 months

*space is limited to 15 families
Enjoy focused time with your baby (pre-walkers ages 0 to 12 months) during this short session. We’ll sing songs in English and Spanish, learn easy movement activities, and explore board books, followed by time to play/bond with your baby and talk with other parents and caregivers. If you have a baby and a toddler/preschooler, please attend our toddler storytime or preschool storytime instead.
