Mayor Cutter to Deliver State of the City Address on March 27

March 13, 2017 

Mayor Pauline Russo Cutter is set to deliver her State of the City Address on Monday March 27th at the San Leandro Main Library Lecture Hall (300 Estudillo Ave). The event will begin with a reception featuring light refreshments at 6:30 PM and the Mayor’s address to the community starting promptly at 7:00 PM. Mayor Cutter will discuss her vision for the future and provide an update on a variety of topics such as economic development, innovation, resiliency and climate change.

On September 6, 2016, the City Council adopted an ordinance that accelerates implementation of the statewide minimum wage requirements. That ordinance goes into effect on July 1, 2017. For more information, please visit: www.sanleandro.org/minimumwage

2:00 PMFREE! Women's History Month Observation - First Poet Laureate of California

Author Aleta George will discuss her award-winning biography of Ina Coolbrith in observation of Women's History Month.

Aleta George has written for the Smithsonian, High Country News, the Los Angeles Times, and the San Francisco Chronicle. She is currently the open space reporter for the Bay Area Monitor, a publication of the League of Women Voters.

Admission is free. Light refreshments served.

If you would like to learn a needle craft (such as knitting, crocheting, cross stitching or embroidering), or if you are currently working on a needle craft project, then come join the Library's Needle Crafters, led by library volunteers.

The Needle Crafters, who meet year-round, are a fun, informal group that meet and make new friends at the Library while discussing interesting topics such as books, travel and movies.

The Needle Crafters usually meet in the Conference Room C, however, check the meeting room computer monitor in the Lobby for any changes.

Reading Buddies ▪ for grades 1 to 5 ▪ Mondays, 3/6, 3/13, 3/20, and 3/27

Kids read aloud to friendly teen volunteers. Sign up at the Children’s Desk (577-3960) and choose your reading time: 4:00pm, 4:30pm or 5:00pm. Register starting February 20th.

For their safety, children under age 10 must be accompanied by an adult at this free activity

Rhymes, songs and books for ages 0 to 12 months

*space is limited to 15 families
Enjoy focused time with your baby (pre-walkers ages 0 to 12 months) during this short session. We’ll sing songs, learn easy movement activities, and explore board books, followed by time to play/bond with your baby and talk with other parents and caregivers. Bring a blanket if you’d like. If you have a baby and a toddler/preschooler, please attend our toddler storytime or preschool storytime instead. This program is funded by First 5 Alameda County through a neighborhood partnership grant.

We offer duplicate sessions at 9:30am and 10:30am, so please choose just one to attend. This storytime takes place in the ESTUDILLO ROOM of the Main Library.

Designed for children ages 3-6, our preschool storytime features longer picture books, plus plenty of flannel boards, puppets and songs. We explore a different theme each week with books and crafts to help with emerging literacy and fine motor skills, followed by a play time.

This program takes place in the ESTUDILLO ROOM at the Main Library.
