The Arts Council of San Leandro and the Library are seeking applications from artists who are interested in exhibiting their work at the Main Library Art Gallery. The application deadline is Monday, June 18 at 8:00 PM for August 2018 through June 2019 exhibits. Click the link below for the guidelines and application.
Kids of all ages are invited to join the Reading Takes You Everywhere Summer Reading Challenge at the San Leandro Public Library to earn prizes for reading and learning over the summer! Read and complete fun activities to earn prizes and special incentives, like a free scoop of Loard's ice cream, a free Mini Murph pizza from Papa Murphy's, a $10 voucher for library card fine forgiveness, and more! Complete the Challenge by August 3 to earn an invitation to our Summer Reading Carnival on Saturday, August 4.
We also have a Summer Reading Challenges for adults and teens so the whole family can participate. Visit any San Leandro Public Library location starting Saturday, June 2 to register and receive your Summer Reading Passport, or sign up online.
Both grownups and kids can start celebrating the June 2 Cherry Festival by participating in a Cherry Festival Treasure Hunt in the San Leandro History Room at the Main Library and win prizes. The treasure hunt will be a fun way to learn about the fascinating history of the Cherry Festival, which goes back for over a century.
The treasure hunt will be hosted on these following days: Tuesday, May 29, 3 pm to 5 pm, Wednesday, May 30, 1 pm to 5 pm, Thursday, May 31, 1 pm to 5 pm, Friday, June 1, 3 pm to 5 pm and Saturday, June 2, 1 pm to 5 pm.
Join us at the Main Library to celebrate LGBT Pride Month with guest speaker Raquel Willis, activist, writer and storyteller on Saturday, June 9 from 2 pm to 3 pm.
