Finding out when your street gets swept just got easier for San Leandro residents. The Public Works Department has launched a new interactive street sweeping map on their website. The new GIS-based online map allows users to enter their street address or zoom in to an area to see their scheduled street sweeping day. The user friendly interactive map was produced in-house by the City’s Information Technology team.
Public Works two-man crew sweeps 180 miles of streets per month and removes more than 7,000 cubic yards of debris each year. Street sweeping services on residential streets are provided once per month and as often as three days per week on highly trafficked areas like Downtown San Leandro.
Residents are asked to do their part to increase the effectiveness of street sweeping in their neighborhood, by removing vehicles from the street during scheduled street sweeping days, keeping the street clear of trash and debris, and removing concrete, metal, or wood ramp driveway approaches. Lawn and tree trimmings should be placed in green waste containers.
Public Works encourages residents to view the link and to share with their friends and neighbors. The link is: http://www.sanleandro.org/depts/pw/strmtce/sweep.asp.
