Mark your calendars for the 27th Annual California Coastal Cleanup Day to be held on September 17, 2011 from 8 am to 12 pm at the San Leandro Shoreline trail. Staff will be stationed at the Monarch Bay Drive bridge and at the Heron Bay entrance to the Shoreline Trail at the end of Lewelling Blvd to provide trash bags, recyclable bags, gloves, disinfectant wipes, and water to volunteers. (The Heron Bay entrance is a drop off only location. Volunteers may not park in the Heron Bay housing development - unauthorized vehicles will be towed)
By request, students from local high schools working on community service time will receive a certificate of service for volunteering their time. In an effort to decrease the amount of recyclables collected, water bottles will not be distributed this year. Instead, large water containers will be filled with water. We are asking participants to bring their own reusable water containers to fill at the site.
California Coastal Cleanup Day is a statewide event held on the third Saturday in September. For more information, visit http://www.coastal.ca.gov/
Please call the San Leandro Marina Office at (510) 577-3488 for more information. See you at the Shoreline!
