I-880 will be closed southbound at Marina Boulevard on Monday night, August 5th, from 11:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. AND northbound at Marina Boulevard on Tuesday night, August 6th, from 11:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. for work on the new bridge at Marina Boulevard.
According to Caltrans, for both closures, freeway traffic will be taken off at the Marina Boulevard exit and detoured right back onto the freeway at Marina Boulevard. Local access on Marina Boulevard at I-880 will be flagger-controlled, causing minor delays for motorists trying to cross the freeway.
Should BART strike, the full closures will likely be shifted to 11:30 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. each night. This may change the number of nights required to do the work. If so, it may take two nights in each direction to do the same work. If necessary I-880 southbound will be closed on both Monday and Tuesday night and I-880 northbound will be closed both Wednesday and Thursday night. Caltrans won't know if the additional nights will be required until the first night is completed.
