The City Council will hold a Work Session on February 10 at 7 p.m. at City Hall to explore the possibility of a Community Workforce Agreement (CWA) that would govern the award of contracts for City construction projects. A CWA (also known as a Project Labor Agreement) is an agreement between the City and local trade unions that would establish the unions as sole the bargaining representative of all construction persons working on qualifying projects. CWA’s can also provide a mechanism for encouraging contractors to hire San Leandro residents and for bringing San Leandro residents into their apprenticeship programs.
Although no action will be taken at this Work Session, it will provide an opportunity for members of the public to offer feedback to the City Council and for the City Council to provide direction to staff on next steps.
